Party Leader's Address to the PNP 69th Annual Conference

The full text of the Party Leader's address to the 69th Annual Conference of the PNP held on Sunday 16th September at the National Arena, Kingston, Jamaica, is now posted on the PNP website at www.pnpjamaica.org."In every thing give thanks! This is the biblical instruction.  And today, as usual I begin by giving thanks to the Almighty for His mercy and grace. Let us give thanks for life, for health, strength, hope and possibility! They said we did not need a conference; that the comrades were tired; that we were disappointed; that we needed time to heal.But they don't know the strength and courage of the People's National Party. Comrades your being here is a testimony to the fighting spirit of the People's National Party!" See the entire speech at http://www.pnpjamaica.org/content/view/264/1/

    What an election!
    What a result!
    What an exhaustive and thought provoking speech!
    The answer must be found to the question:
    What happens when an irresistable force meets an immovable object?
    Will fancy legal gymanstics delay the inevitable?
    St Mary ( South East) and Hanover (East) is just a matter of time.
    Life can be strange,
    Somethings we forget.....
    We see your strength and we value your worth.....
    With you we feel protected from all harm
    Where do we go from here it's clear
    No matter what the road....

    Portia Speech well said, Portia I am personally giving my commitment to work with the PNP YO and the PNP, to assist in everyway to help the PNP YO become effective, We cannot afford for the Young People to fall into the JLP death trap, the PNP YO did no form of work for this election and this is one of the main reasons for the PNP Losing, it has nothing to do with money, or party not being united or party president, it has to do with the fact that the Young People all wanted a change, the PNP YO should of be campaigning and doing there part to ensure that majority of the young people vote for the PNP, G2k had myspaces accounts with myspace JLP/G2k group, why didn't the PNP YO thought of that, Another problem I see is that the PNP website is to simple, too plain, have you ever seen the JLP's website, its awesome and I am not a JLP supporter as you can see, PNP needs to look at the obvious problems, the PNP YO, needs to start working from now, keep interesting, meetings on a monthly basis at the party's headquarters and look at issues being rasied, and stop with the uwi pnp youth arm group that they have, And have 1 big active PNP YO group. And get Lisa Hanna and Peter Bunting to help with it. Secondly we need to reply to emails that interested persons send to the PNP email address.

    We have a Good machinery for the next election in 2012, what the PNP needs to do now is to work on the efficiency of the machinery, get the PNP YO involved, let them plan fundraisers to raise money before the next election comes upon us, even now when we have a close figure of MP's on both sides, especially witht he pending courts order, we need to get our act together and work as a team.

    UNuh see Audley Shaw hav foot in mouth disease as to Orette Bruce Golding..hahah PNP going have some sweet times ahead, Seeing Portia in the Swearing of the MP in Parliament She looks ready to hit the road, PNP going mek JLP sweat, because we will be victorious in the next elections.

    Sorry for any errors in typing.
    Portia I Kevin R love you, you powerful I respect you, Your the PM Jamaica needs, not the PM we have now, him fi tek weh him self.

    Portia I extend my Love to you. Kisses Portia I love you. :-)

    I stronghly agree with you on that PNP.YO matter, I was very disappointed whwn i did not hear then in the elections and when they did start it was weak, very weak. On the things we need to do for the next elections is to have the pnp care takers on the ground from early, that was one of the JLPS strenght. but we all need to come together for the party. Big up sister P.

    PNP Senator Arnold J Nicholson is the new Leader of Opposition Business. The Party Leader Portia Simpson Miller named the full eight member team of opposition senators. See http://www.pnpjamaica.org/content/view/267/1/ on the PNP website for the full story.

    This was an excellent speech! But all the media carried was the nightmare section.

    Our views should be represented in other media - cartoon commentary on youtube?

    Be encouraged, King David the greatest king was in exile for a while too. This time must be used for strengthening and reaching our core and the uncommitted.

    Can anyone confirm that the JLP used refernences to Maid and Gardener in their campaign?

    Portia said so in her speech, but not a soul has been able to provide any proof of this.

    Somebody on one side or another needs to apologise.

    Kevin: Sorry for any errors in typing.
    &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

    CTG: You should apologize for your errors in thinking, but that a different matter.

    &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

    Kevin: I am personally giving my commitment to work with the PNP YO and the PNP, to assist in everyway to help the PNP YO become effective, We cannot afford for the Young People to fall into the JLP death trap, the PNP YO did no form of work for this election and this is one of the main reasons for the PNP Losing, it has nothing to do with money, KEVIN R on 2007-09-27

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    CTG: I am glad @ least one Comrade recognizes some simple truth.
    A: That the PNP had much more funding that the JLP (counting the corrupt use of the State Resources and the installed base of Comrade controlled national media outlets/sources)
    B. That the PNP Yo-Yo is a washed up lackey organization of Party Central whose head could not even wangle Senate Job, the one spot fell to a the former Head.
    You made a grievous omission, which I think it falls to I to put right. Apparently the PNP Yo-Yo or some elements of it, was out distributing arms to a breakaway fraction of the 1stOrder. This is second time the PNP Yo-Yo has been fingered in an Arms Deal leading up to an Election. One remembers the infamous case forward in the late 70s and the facilitating of two well-known Gangland figures to hide out in Castro Land.
    So it is not that the PNP Yo-Yo was laying fallow in the field, they were out doing the wrong thing while G2K was busy running a xclass show in support of their Party and Country.
    If the PM will only listen:
    Forget about two-term limits, it will only encourage short-termism. It is better for politicians to practice taking a long-term view!
    Just ask Alan Greenspan, this is what he also finds to be the big fault with politicians! From Greenspan's experience he found that US politicians are under tremendous pressure to deliver short term because of the pressures put on them from having two terms to deliver and elections in general. What end up happening is that US politicians end up taking a short-term view to the detriment of the economy.
