NEWS RELEASE

The People’s National Party (PNP), has been informed by its

representative at the Election Centre, that a recommendation has been made to the Police Commissioner, to ban all public meetings and motorcades in the Corporate Area and ST.Catherine, with immediate effect.

PNP General Secretary Donald Buchanan says while the Party understands the seriousness of reports of violent activities and the good intentions of the Election Centre, the PNP is asking the police, to ascertain the facts and thoroughly investigate reports of political violence in those two parishes, to properly determine the veracity of allegations being made to the police.

However, Mr. Buchanan says that as always, the People’s National Party will continue to respect and abide by the law.

Mr. Buchanan says as a result of the Election Centre recommendation to the Police Commissioner, the PNP has already cancelled its meeting set for this evening in Linstead, St. Catherine and awaits the decision of the Police Commissioner, to decide where its final campaign meeting will be held on Saturday evening.

Full speed ahead, I am fully with Sista P and the PNP. The question I have being asking myself and others is that if Mrs. Portia Simpson-Miller was a man if these attacks on her would have being different and less hostile.

We as Jamaicans need to grow up and appreciate Mrs. Simpson-Miller for her achievements and her ondieing love for people in general. It is not by chance that Sista P was settled amongst the top 100 powerful in the world. Just continue to encourage all comrades young, old, those who voted late time around and those who did not vote last time that Jamaica is PNP country and we need their continued support and vote on September 3, 2007. We cannot allow Bruce and his so called team take credit for all we have worked so hard for over the many years.

Continue to fight the good fight, I will continue to battle on the grounds with my other fellow mis-guided Jamaican who seems to have being brain washed.

Yours in Comradeship

I think we need to break with the party loyalty and think about Jamaican first. I would vote for Sista P if I had any hope that she would be any different that PJ. But I don't see anything different. She would keep basically the same cabinet-the same people who have given us the weak dollar, crime and hopeless these last few years.

I will not break with my party - For everything I am I have a reason: I am Christian, I am Seventh-day Adventist, I am PNP...The PNP is the vehicle through which I am empowered and through which poor citizens of this country can be uplifted...The JLP is just using pooor people for the vote - Bruce and all of them are hard-up and are only looking to rob the treasury, they need to establish a business and run it successfully before coming wid dem hungry belly to represent Jamaicans - FULL SPEED AHEAD WITH PORTIA!!!!!!!!!

You damn fool, you cant even spell HANDLE you wrote "hanble". Portia can run Jamaica, she just needs to good administration team that she can rely on and not a team that will disappoint her, firstly Philip Paulwell needs to exit the House of Parliament.

Bruce Golding, is in a dream world,he closes his one eye and has a imaginary Jamaica visualizing sorry for him, because come Sept 3, his Political Life will go into retirement when sista p, mama P, Portia Wins, when she gets her mandate, it is not a matter of if she will get it, it's a case that she WILL, She HAS TO get it, Jamaica needs a change, Portia is the change, a woman is incharge is the changes, as to the state of public emergency, if she never did call it, Bruce and the "ticky ,ticky" labourites would have said that If they were in power they would have called it, and in that she did it, them saying she never had to call it. Stop Trouble the lady, stop provoke her because she will and she can answer back, she just keeping her cool. A a Karl Samuda call unuh ticky ticky labourites, anywayz JLP AND PNP on Sept third put the X beside the HEAD and vote for Portia and the PNP Because Portia is the change, and woman is in charge.

You should check your own spelling and grammar before bashing other people for theirs. Anyway, in a country where there has been very little economic growth for many years we cannot afford to be PNPs and Labourites, we must vote based on the issues and on what is best for Jamaica and Jamaicans. It is time for us to start thinking for ourselves and stop this foolishness of 'die-hearted' PNP and JLP. Give another party a chance and let's see if we can get OUR country out of the slump that it is in.

How can a party that had a school unfinnish for more than ten years promise free education, we must remember that the howard cooke primary school started to build in the late seventies and was left unfinnished untill the PNP came back to office in 1989. we jamaican need to wake up.

It seems to me you need to go back to school. How under God's earth can someone
as intellectually barren as you be in a
position to judge any body's intellegence? May the good lord help you. Get with it man, upgrade yourself
and enter the real world. Bruce and the JLP? No way. Like I have always said, we don't need a FLIP-FLOPPER for
our Prime Minister even if you do, but then again that's understandable, judging by the level of your intellegence, which seems to be on the lower side.

Why are you saying that our priminister is illiterate? If being illiterate means having a degree from a preputable institution, then well over 25% of the Jamaican society may very well be illiterate. Did you know that Jamaica's first priminister was not an intellectual, infact he did not even have a high school diploma, and if memory serves me right he was a LABOURITE.

Let us reason fabian. You're saying that PORTIA doesn't have the intellectual capacity to run jamaica o.k and i assume Bruce has all that is require to be the one to lead this nation that what your'e implying. Then fabian why(i don't think you know this) it has to take two of the most powerful jamaican multi-millionaires(even billionaires)to take on PORTIA(ONE LIKKLE POOR COUNTRY/GHETTO DUNCE)or should i say take down PORTIA.You must also remember even within her party's presidential race she had to face almost the same advesities.I say all of that to say this there are several ways to test an individual intellectual capacity and if PORTIA WAS NOT CAPABLE SHE WOULD NOT HAVE ENTER THE PRESIDENTIAL RACE OF HER PARTY ON TWO OCCASSION LOST TO PJ ON THE FIRST(SENORITY SUCCEEDED) AND WON THE SECOND.Why on earth any human being would face all those humiliations trying and wanting to become the priminister or president of his/her country.i have no don't in the ability of MRS.SIMPSON-MILLER THERE ARE SOMETHING THAT AND THAT IS WHY EVEN VERY PORTIA CANNNOT DO AND THERE ARE SOMETHING THAT BRUCE CANNNOT DO.THE VERY INTELLECTUAL ALSO NEEDS ADVISERS AND A SUPPORTED CAST TO MAKE THINGS APPEAR A LITTLE EASY.BRUCE PROBABLY HAVE MORE ACADEMIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS BUT IT'S NOT A GUARANTEED THAT HE'LL DO A BETTER JOB AT BEING THE PRIMINISTER ASK SIR ALEXANDER BUSTAMANTE.YOU CAN ALSO CHECK THE ACCOMPLISHMENT OF MANY JAMAICANS WHO DO NOT HAVE THOSE ACADEMICS ACCOMPLISHMENTS(AND BEING A WOMAN)AND PERFOMED EXCELLENTLY AT THEIR DUTIES.VOTE WHO YOU WANT TO VOTE FOR BUT DO NOT FOLLOW OTHERS AND DISRESPECT SOMEONE WHO HAVE LAID DOWN THEIR ALL INSPITE OF SEVERE ADVERSITIES.ANOTHER POINT;I'VE SEEN MANY OF THESE INTELLECTS WHO HAVE HANDLE THE JOB AND FAILED BADLY WITH THEIR MALE EGOTISTIC ATTITUDES AND INCREDIBLE GREED.I ASK COULD A WOMAN,WHO SEEM TO HAVE SOME CONSCIENCE,DO ANY WORST? I SAY THINK AND THINK REAL HARD,REMEMBER YOUR MOTHER OR ANY WOMAN YOU RESPECT AND MATCH THEM UP TO ANY MALE INCLUDING YOUR SELF FABIAN AND YOU'LL WILL NOTICE 9 OUT OF EVERY 10 WILL SHOW THAT A WOMAN HAS A BETTER CONSCIENCE THAN US(MALE),CHECKED YOUR OWN MOTHER AND I'LL ASSURED YOU YOU'LL SEE IT IN HER AS WELL.

When will you comrades get it through your thick skulls. Portia's problem is not academics. Portia lacks the innate intellectual ability to handle the Job of Prime Minister. Portia's problen is that for too long people have propped her up. She is a walking charity case.

These challenges for leadership that she made resulted from her being treated with kid gloves by the media. No one ever bothered to expose her inadequecies. What charity.

The leadership races were instructional. Her own colleagues in Parliament and in the leadership of the Party questioned her ability. It wasn't her degree that they questioned(although it is a dubious accomplisment). In fact, they were questioning her ability to concentrate, prepare, think and engage with them, as her colleagues.

Portia is the only HOPE for Jamaica at this moment, she is the best leader in the 21st century, come election day you and i will be voting for Portia and the pnp.

Just want to assure Comrade and former Prime Mininster, Portia Simpson Miller, that she continues to be an inspiration for women everywhere, and not only in Jamaica.

Your confidence as reassured us that even when the call is difficult, women can answer and live up to what is expected. Your party might have lost at the polls, but you won not only for those from your generation, but also for all the poor and middle class Jamaicans, who without a PNP party would have been left behind on the plantation of hopelessness.

We look forward to see you regroup, take up mantle and fight the status quo. And when you begin to feel as if it were all in vain, remember the battle is half won. You have opened a new page in Jamaican history. How wonderful!! Included among those called internationally-- flower children you continue to leave your mark on history and move the world forward with much delight into the 21st century. For women, who in previous generations were seen only as a "fly on the wall", such a position of inaction and powerlessness is left behind.

Sister P thank you. You have friends and kindred in spirit, just about everywhere you can think. Upwards and Onwards!! Your future with God's help, is bright.

wow it looks like there is a PNP panick in the room. The fact of the matter is if Portia and the PNP was not able to do it in 18 years then common sense tells me that she will not be able to do it. why experiment when so many of our people need help. It is time for a change and by the rumbling on the ground all indications suggest that the Jamaican people are changing course. Perhaps Bruce can offer Portia an Ambassadorial position to continue her work of being the Mama of the country.

I cannot help but voice my opinion about certain matters which, though now seem like “bridge over still waters” are still irksome.

Can someone tell me what on earth is wrong with the appointed leader of a country making a decision to safeguard the lives and property of its citizens???????

You know, the venom, the bile that is constantly being spewed forth in the direction of the Prime Minister of Jamaica is just ludicrous, annoying and unwarranted. The media has taken up the battle cry and along with some who think themselves “Portia’s betters”, will stop at nothing to bring the woman down. Many people are offended by the belittling JLP AD entitled “Don’t Draw Mi Tongue” which they have published for the world to see on You Tube. In their quest for power, they have resorted to tarnishing the Prime Minister's reputation in the vulgar way they have projected her, for all the world to see. If this isn't defamation of character, I do not know what not is.

The average Jamaican man or woman who knows little or nothing about the wily and deceitful ways in which a computer can be used to create misleading images and pass on negative information, will definitely believe that everything they see and hear on a computer is “just so it goh”.

It is as if no matter what Portia does, she is perceived to be wrong in the eyes of the JLP. When she’s right she’s accused, insulted and disrespected even moreso than when she is wrong. Imagine that in announcing the Election Date in Half Way Tree, the Prime Minister chose to VERY GRACEFULLY dance a few steps. The noble Mr. Golden, whose sole goal is to send Christmas message from Jamaica House, in his crude criticism has urged her to go join di dancehall posse....a remark I find rather offensive........and especially since im woulda neva, eva tink fi tek demdeh step wid di previous Prime Minister PJ, who love dancing and who can actually dance.

True, I don’t always agree with what Portia does, or how she does things, but that does not give me the right to publicly use and abuse her. I am convinced that the contemptous attitude stems from her gender and her station. And me being a WOMAN, a woman of HUMBLE BEGINNING, CANNOT therefore vote against this woman, whose only crime is being the daughter of humble parents!!!!!!!

The Golden Leader seems to be at the head of the pack of “wolves” who are ready to tear the woman to shreds, at the drop of a hat. And I am now beginning to see that party in another negative light....a misogynistic party!!!!!!! This is evident in the way the leader and some of its candidates and supporters constantly belittle, decry and downgrade our beautiful Prime Minister.
Another candidate has been openly rude to Miss Lisa Hanna, while another spewed his gutter talk in Portia’s direction.

So Ladies, women of Jamaica, we need to put an end to this now!!!!!!!
We must send the JLP a clear message that we will NOT TOLERATE their facetious, disrespectful and bumptious behaviour. If the Jamaica Losers Party is elected to office, things will only get worse. Our freedom, our rights as women will be further trampled on. We will be relegated to being simply “housemaids”. We cannot afford this retrograde step...to be taken. Not at all!!!!!!!

Jamaica’s future is in our hands, heart and head. Let us use our head, think clearly and on election day, September 3, VOTE PNP.

I have lived through five Members of Parliament in N.W.Clarendon, viz,
Edwin Allen(JLP), Percival Minott(PNP), Clifton Stone(JLP), Carl Marshall(PNP) and our present Member of Parliament Richard Azan. History will prove that, no other member of parliament has worked as hard and has done more for the people of N>W>Clarendon than Richard Azan.
This young man should be left to continue the great work he has started and i would implore the people, not to stop the progress and return Mr azan as our Member of Parliament. Micheal Stern ,as his leader is a flip flopper, was a PNP supporter, then a NDM and now a JLP full of promises and very little substance.

i admired the strength of Portia Simpson Miller. I also support your leadership fully, as I am convinced that you have the country's best interest at heart. Jamaica needs a leader of your calibre who displays selflessness, courage and great resiliance. I am not too worried about flambuoyancy, but is more concerned for onward progress of the country.

The reality is that Mrs. Simpson Miller has been given the formidable challenge of securing the fifth term for her party. This is something that no other person within the party could do as a result of the attractively poised Golding and the poor performance of the PNP administration over the years, which has surely dealt a character blow to the party.

So far, I must say despite the political rhetoric currently being played out in Jamaica, Mrs. simpson Miller has done superbly well in comparison to her passed predecessors and has a result should be highly commended.

All in all, I optimically wish for her the fulfillment of her dream to have her mandate and for her continued leadership of Jamaica, which is indeed well needed.

Orville, a don`t understand you at all. "poor performance of the PNP administrations over the years" A which comrade talk so?
You sounding like Dawn Ritch; and her colums are like wignall`s, intellectually dishonest at best. The proposition that Sis.P has done wonders in her short tenure, while the previous leader was a failure is absurd. This kind of revisionism turns off the base of the party.
The party wouldn`tbe seeking a fifth straight term on poor performance. The past leadership did superbly well these last eighteen years. Look at the progress since 1989-- the infrastructure:roads, telephone, airport improvement - computerization of government services etc. The foreign exchange reserves.
Product differentiation within the PNP won`t work. The emphasis must be on the achievement of the party.
The JLP is hungry for power and in their severe state of hunger, cannot be thrusted with the public purse. I shudder to think what would happen to the public purse were they to win, given the fact of their previous history in govt. Don`t vote for a man who after nine years as minister of construction ,is unable to produce anything he can take credit for constructing. . Don`t vote for a man who has said there was nothing wrong with the roads before the PNP roadway construction
Reject the IMF vote PNP.
God bless.
Ps.Comrade Claudette is just great in all her insights.

I don't know where this idiot Fabian is
from. First he needs to get himself educated if that is possible, and he might be able then to appreciate Sister P and the PNP and progress. The polls are meaningless so I will share with my comrades what I have done. I took
the 2002 results, and increased the total votes by constituency by 20%. I then gave the LJP 60% of this figure to
the PNP's 40%. I went further and with the exception of 20 seats ( Trevor Munroe and Francis Tulloch) which I am sure we will take, I gave the JLP every
marginal seat. This is what I call "MY
WORST CASE SENARIO". The result? PNP 32 to the JLP 28. I then looked at back at these seats a total of nine, and the split is PNP 5, JLP 4. i cannot give the entire picture here, but the underlying fact is that no way
can the PNP lose this election, and I
project anywhere between 32 and 37 seats. Walk well my comrades, and come Tuesday we will show them who the Jamaican people really trust. Make sure we get every PNP out to vote, this is crucial. We don't need a FLIP-FLOPPER for Prime Minister, no way. God
Bless. 843-1979 (Cell)

Anyone who says that their lives have not changed for the better these past 18 years was living under a rock in Jamaica. 20 years ago, when the average person bought a car in Jamaica, it was after it had passed through all 7 hands, then he would have to take it and beat it out and bodywork it to make it roadworthy. Today ordinary Jamaicans can walk into a car mart , and drive out with a brand new "used car", ready for the road. That is progress and something not to be taken for granted. PNP made that possible. People as young as in their 20's are owning their own homes- PNP made that possible. One time you would have to pay the big man's mortgage till you retire and still have nothing for yourself. Him alone can buy and you pay rent. Now house is there for everybody. PNP has made it so. Remember cell phone how it was a status symbol and you couldn't take our eyes off the upper class man/woman with cell phone on his ears, one hand on steering wheel. All we could do was yearn for the day. Well the day has come and now all of us can own what used to be status symbols. cell phone, home phone, mega phone, internet, computer for everybody.PNP bridged the gap between the priviledged and the so-called "underpriviledged" in this country. And that is what they hate the party for. There is nothing now stopping my child from going to university aboard if that is what I want to do. That is not status symbol anymore. Opportunitites are available for everyone -not just the rich. Young people I call on you to use your head. If you don't we will get back to the stage where we are eating crumbs from the plate of the "power brokers" of this country. All the taxi men better beware, because if they are not careful the cars that they are driving now , may be their last-back to beat out and spray days- because those who fund the JLP election will demand their pound of flesh. That pound of flesh may be a policy that says "no more used cars". you will have to buy brand new ones from new car dealers. Do you have the million that Mr. Powerbroker has?. So people use your head. Portia's been there and she knows. She cannot be explicit in some of the comments that she is making, but do not ignore the comments that "she owes no one" and that "she did not sell out Jamaica, and that "there are interest groups who want to run this country" These are profound comments - read between the lines. Sister P. we hear you and we are there with you.
I just hope that the people who are making noise and who would want to hold back the PNP vote because of the hurricane relief know what they are doing because if God forbid that the PNP loses this one- those people are not even going to see the bags that the stuff came in. The Labourites dem going to make dem know whose time it is now. So I would say to them - cool it and wait. It's better to wait than not to get anything in the long run and put this country back into the hands of the pirates.

The media is waging a psychological warfare against the party. comrades don't fall for their poll. On Monday the gleaner published front page information saying that a poll taken just before the Hurricane showed that 49% of the electorate think Bruce would make a better prime minister and 40 percent said portia. The following day they published a correction in a small column in the section mark "Errors and clarification" saying that the correct information is that 45% say Portia would make a better prime minister and 40% had said Bruce. A significant piece of information that was gleaner after the debate. They give the wrong information the day before the Police vote as a way of influencing the vote. Notice that the correction was carefully hidden inside the newspaper - not splashed on the front page. Now you know that we can't trust them. Please run some more of the one who can't keep their "facts" straight. And while you are at it Ask Mr. Bobby Montaque in St. Mary why the St. Mary credit union had to be merged with St. Ann credit union. He was on the Board that helped to mismanage the poor people money and run them into bankruptsy? Talk about trust and responsibility annd who is better for the constituency. Is certainly not him.
Big up Delano - you have integrity.

Many persons within Jamaica are a bit worried about Portia as to weather or not she is capable of handle the priministership, worry no more. Its doesn't take someone who is rather intelluctual to run any organisation because a lot of PhD indivual give them a management position and they do crap. I have never heard that Portia has been placed to head a ministry/Government Department and she hasn't perform she has had an excellent track record so what are we Jamaicans talking about I am not playing on anyones emotions because if we were to look at intellect then someone like my grandmother is Dora who has only an elementary eduation had had 10 children very active in her community tried hard to make ends meet and on various committees saw to it that all her children were successful and this was a lady with just an elementary education we in Jamaica look too much on the intellectual man and sometimes the he/she is just fooling the crowd and cannot do the work. I will encourage all of you well thinking Jamaican to vote wisely and not be fooled by all this promises that you hear. I was always told that its not all that giltters is gold. which party? PNP!!!!!!!! You remind me of
the little boy in this story: Peter
arrived at school late one morning, so his teacher wanted to know why. Well he
explained that his dog had six pups, and they were all comrades. He was not punished. Another week passed and he was again late, but this time his teacher took him in front of the headmaster. His explanation was that the pups had opened their eyes and could now see, so they were Labourites.
What Peter did not know was that the puppies were born with a defect. They were blind, and poor Peter could not detect the defect. Sounds very much like you, doesn't it?
